i'm done!

I just finished my practicum yesterday. It was definitely a bittersweet ending to the time I was there. I was really happy to be finished earlier in the week but as the days came closer to my last one the smiles felt more forced when talking about leaving these kids. On Thursday I let my students know at the beginning of the day that the next day would be my last day with them. I don't think I have ever seen this classroom more silent. One little girl started crying.

Yesterday they threw a "surprise" party for me. They had each given me pictures they had made in computer class and a gigantic "Thank You" card which they had all signed. The day before when they came back from computer class about 10 of them came to me and said somehting along the lines of "we can't tell you what we were doing in computers, because it's a surpise...and it's for you! but we're not going to tell you about it." Some of the parents had organized to bring in cupcakes and juice and rice krispy squares for the occasion. It was very touching.

Today I slept in until 2:00. It was very nice.
